Apple Phone announcement at MacWorld today?

January 9th, 2007 · No Comments

The Wall Street Journal claims that Apple will be announcing their cellphone “as early as Tuesday.” This coincides with Steve Job’s keynote speech at MacWorld.

The phone reportedly would reside on Cingular’s network. Cingular in November announced a mobile music service based upon Microsoft’s WMA format and a subscription model. It is presently unclear how this service would interoperate, if at all, with Apple’s rumored phone.

Rumors have suggested that the phone would be interoperable on GSM/CDMA networks or perhaps be GSM only in its first configuration if exclusive to Cingular. The Wall Street Journal has been extremely reliable in the past, having been the first news outlet to predict Apple’s switch to Intel chips.
